Our Therapy Enrichment Center serves as a simultaneous framework for individual study (corrective instruction) and therapy, aimed at bridging the academic gaps among high-risk children. The children at Neve Michael have all suffered emotional neglect and physical and mental abuse. This maltreatment at the hands of their biological families has engendered huge academic gaps and low self-esteem.
On the elementary school level, some 100 children receive academic assistance; of these, some 50% cannot read and write (when they first arrive) and the remaining 50% suffer from learning disabilities associated with a poor attention span and the inability to concentrate, requiring therapy.
On the high school and junior high school levels, around 80 children require assistance in preparing for tests and matriculation exams and in understanding the study material. This assistance is also accompanied by therapy.

Here are the goals of the project:
Diagnosis of academic gaps and learning disabilities
- Determining the child’s abilities to close the gaps
- Corrective instruction – tutoring in reading, writing and math
- Assistance with homework
- Assistance with preparation for tests and matriculation exams
- Knowledge review and reinforcement – learning enrichment in various areas of study
- The expected results of the project include:
- Building the child’s confidence and self-image
- A marked improvement in the child’s attitude toward school
We do not draw a line between academic help and emotional support, believing that these essential needs should be provided jointly.
The Therapy Enrichment Center at Neve Michael serves 180 children under individual programs tailored for the different age groups:
Grades 1-6, ages 6-12, around 100 children
Grades 7-12, ages 12-18, around 80 children

It is our long held belief that basic shelter, a family atmosphere and educational facilities make up only some of the vital components needed to properly raise our children in need. Owing to their traumatic – and at times tragic – circumstances, our children also deserve the best in therapeutic care. It is for this reason that we have set up special therapeutic programs.
Owing largely to the absence of a reliable adult in their lives, our children suffer from the following drawbacks and disorders:
- Lack of basic trust
- Lack of emotional backing
- Low self-esteem
- Behavioral Problems
Our children require the best professional care available to overcome the effects of their past traumas. At the Neve Michael Children’s Village, our individual treatment program meets the needs of each child and enhances their development and well being.
